They Are Waiting for Their Forever Happy Ending !

We are constantly working to find loving homes abroad for our animals. Because of this, their availability may change from day to day, as some may already have an international rescue committed to them, or may be in the process of being accepted for transfer.

For this reason, it is not always possible for us to update the website in real time.
If you have decided that you are ready to adopt, we kindly ask you to contact us with a brief introduction about yourself. Please include information about your family and lifestyle, your experience with dogs, and a short description of the type of dog you are hoping to adopt.

Once we receive your application, we will review it and try to find the best possible match for you. We aim to get back to you with available options within 10 days.
Our adoption fees within Albania range between €100 and €150 per dog.

Compassion, Commitment, and Care

Adopting a Leishmania-Positive Dog:

I am Max!

I am leishmania positive, but after being treated, I am happily adopted and living at the fullest.

Every dog deserves the chance to live in a safe and loving home, including dogs diagnosed with leishmaniasis. While the diagnosis may sound intimidating, many Leishmania-positive dogs go on to live happy, comfortable lives with proper care and monitoring. Choosing to adopt one of these dogs is not only an act of compassion, but also a way to challenge stigma and give a deserving dog a second chance.

Leishmaniasis is a manageable condition. After completing the initial 28-day treatment we follow, many dogs stabilize and show significant improvement. At that stage, they are often ready for adoption, but they do need ongoing care and responsible follow-up.

Our Personal Experience

Over the past 8 years, we have personally rescued and adopted three Leishmania-positive dogs. All of them have lived completely normal, happy lives, and none has ever experienced a relapse. Beyond our own dogs, we have also supported at least 10 other Leishmania-positive dogs through rescue and adoption. Their stories show the same thing: with proper care, these dogs can thrive.

Why Adopt?

Because these dogs are often overlooked, not because they have less love to give, but because they are misunderstood. They are just as loyal, affectionate, and deserving as any other dog. By adopting a Leishmania-positive dog, you are not only saving a life, but also making space for another rescue in need.

Contact us if you would like to give one of them a home. Sometimes, the gratitude in their eyes says more than words ever could.

What Adopters Should be Prepared For

Regular Veterinary Monitoring

Routine checkups every 3 to 6 months are important. These usually include blood tests to monitor kidney function, protein levels, and overall health.

Long-term Medication

Many dogs remain on allopurinol for an extended period, and sometimes for life, depending on their clinical condition. This medication is generally affordable and well tolerated.

Observation at Home

Adopters should watch for possible signs of relapse, such as weight loss, skin lesions, lethargy, nosebleeds, or increased thirst and urination, and report any changes to a veterinarian promptly.

In our experience, this happens very rarely.

Nutrition and General Care

A balanced, high-quality diet supports the immune system and overall health. In some cases, veterinarians may recommend a lower-purine diet for dogs on long-term allopurinol.

Preventive Measures

Protecting the dog from sandfly bites by using repellents, collars, or spot-on treatments is essential, both for the dog’s health and to reduce the risk of transmission in endemic areas

Commitment, Not Fear

Leishmania is not directly contagious through casual contact. With basic hygiene and preventive care, these dogs can safely live in family homes. Most go on to live long lives and pass from unrelated causes.
